DIY Happy Hair + Good Riddance Lice Spray

DIY Happy Hair + Good Riddance Lice Spray

If you, like me, are completely over the rigmarole of lice treatments and 30-minute combing sessions with your preschool and school-aged kids, then this one is for you. You can make this DIY anti-lice spray that is also good for the growth and health of your child’s hair in just a couple of minutes.

You will need

250ml Spray bottle
Witch hazel or vodka
Tea Tree essential oil
Peppermint essential oil
Cedarwood essential oil
Water

Directions

Remove nozzle and add a couple of squirts of witchhazel or about 1/2 teaspoon of vodka to the bottle.

Add 20 drops tea tree essential oil, 10 drops peppermint oil and 5 drops of cedarwood.

Top with water leaving a space at the top so that it doesn’t overflow when you put the nozzle back on.

Label with a poster pen and sticky tape over it to help it stay there, or even just use a sticker so you remember what it’s for.

A rookie mistake I have learned from many times is not to label the bottle and then forgetting what it is for.

Spray it liberally on the hair, avoiding eyes, morning and evening to keep the lice at bay. Particularly ensure you get it behind the ears, on the crown of the head and the hairline at the back of the neck.

Always perform a small patch test on skin first to ensure no reactions occur and ensure you keep pure essential oils out of reach of children.
