Easing Anxiety With Plant-Based Remedies

pinboard saying don't panic suggesting anxiety

Plant-based remedies date back thousands of years in many ancient cultures around the world. Many families are reviving the use of essential oils in modern life as information comes to light supporting the adoption of more natural approaches to our health and wellbeing. It is becoming clear that man-made chemicals can create a toxic load in our environment and may take a toll on us mentally and physiologically (particularly our endocrine systems).

Pure essential oils act on the body and mind via the olfactory sense and through our largest organ, the skin. Impacts on both are proven to occur mentally and physically within seconds of contact.

Many including myself have experienced that particular oils have quite specific effects on various ailments or emotional states. These listed below may assist in easing anxiety.

Basil

Benefits include assisting with clarity of thinking, overcoming mental fatigue and aiding focus. Great for tasks when your attention is needed, it appears to blow away mind-fog as well as assist with digestion. I may even help to bring on menstruation. It is not advisable to use in the first trimester of pregnancy however other benefits may include to build hair-shine, repel mosquitos and uplift the mood.

For further remedies and suggestions for ways to use essential oils, I’d highly recommend purchasing Aromatherapy for Scentual Awareness, by Judith White and Karen Day, McPherson’s Printing Group, 1994.
